Systems Administrator - Unix Services | BAE Systems | Omaha, NE
Maintains smooth operation of multi-user computer systems, including
coordination with network administrators. Duties may include setting up
administrator and service accounts, maintaining system documentation,
tuning system performance, installing system wide software and allocate
mass storage space. Interacts with users and evaluates vendor products.
Makes recommendations to purchase hardware and software, coordinates
installation and provides backup recovery. Develops and monitors
policies and standards for allocation related to the use of computing
resources.

6+ Years with HS or 3+ Years with AA or 0+ Years with BSRequired
Experience:
Required Skills:
System Administrator in a UNIX environment. Write scripts to automate
tasks such as adding users, domain name services and disk quota
management. Loads and manages Sun Solaris OS and applications for high
availability of Sun servers and system. Perform data backup and
recovery. Provides setup, configuration and maintenance of servers and
clients for the Unix environment. Perform system and applications
monitoring and reporting to include performance and planning. Manages
file systems, disc space and configurations. Provide recommendations
regarding system performance and capacity planning for the UNIX
platforms including new technologies enhancing current methods and
infrastructure. Understands, adheres, implement overall security
policies. Installs, configures, and deploys workstations including Sun
OS. Support SAN configurations and management. Understands system logs,
performs troubleshooting and problem resolution. Responsible for
providing computer support operations including, but not limited to,
computer operations, production control, data entry, remote job entry,
tape library, etc. Plans, organizes, directs, and controls computer
systems operations. Supervises personnel engaged in the operation of
computer consoles and peripheral equipment. Identifies processing
requirements and schedules job streams for computer runs. Should have
thorough knowledge of the capabilities of all applicable computer
hardware configurations. Establishes, modifies, and deletes user
accounts according to Government approved procedures. Skill sets
includes, System installation, configuration and maintenance. Unix and
Sun Solaris, C, or C++. Hardware/software installation and
troubleshooting. Security policies. Shell scripting. Experience in
network application protocols and network protocols..Preferred Skills:
